Here is a chance to help preserve one of the world's greatest trout streams, the Boardman River. It is also the home to the Adams fly, which is the most popular dry fly in the world. The fly was invented in the 1920's by Len Halladay of Mayfield, Michigan, which is within walking distance of the Boardman River, where he first tested the fly out.
My home and shop is on the Boardman River, which enables me to keep a watch on the river. We have a local organization called the Boardman River Project that works very hard to protect and restore the river. Once a year I donate one of my cane rods for a raffle. One hundred percent of this money goes into the river restoration.
If you would like to help and maybe win the rod, please make a check out to the Boardman River Project for as many tickets as you would like and mail to me, adddress is:
90 River Road EastI will mail you back the large part of the ticket. Tickets are $10 each. Only one thousand tickets were printed (Michigan Raffle Lic # R95717). The winning ticket will be drawn August 17, 2008, at the Boardman River Nature Center, Cass Road, Traverse City. You do not have to be present at the drawing to win.
This is the 12th year I have donated a rod. The rod is my Model 856 deluxe, 8' # 5-6 line, two tips, bag and tube.
If you purchase a total of ten or more tickets, and are the winner of the fly rod, Bob Summers will take you on a personal fly fishing float trip! Bob and the lucky winner will use George Giffith's AuSable River Boat. George is considered one founders of Trout Unlimited. The trip will last 5-8 hours on the AuSable, Manistee, or Boardman Rivers! Tickets may be purchased separately. Good Luck!
