In the mid 1920 Jim Payne interducted the darker flame treated rods, he did continue the High Lander for a short time. Dave Holloman who own the Payne rod company today still makes the High Lander series along with the dark flame treated rods. I have lawn cast the rod and like it with both 4 & 5 Wt. lines. This is a great little all around trout rod .
